Terms & Privacy

Terms of Service

1. What Daylight is

Daylight is a personal productivity tool that connects to your Granola account, reads your meeting notes, and uses AI to extract actionable tasks. By using Daylight you agree to these terms.

2. Your account

You sign in with your email address. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and any API keys you provide secure. One account per person, please.

3. Acceptable use

Use Daylight for its intended purpose. Don't attempt to reverse-engineer, overload, or interfere with the service. Don't use it to process data you don't have the right to access.

4. Your content

Meeting notes, tasks, and any other content you bring into Daylight remain yours. We don't claim ownership of your data. You grant us only the limited right to process it in order to provide the service.

5. AI-generated output

Tasks extracted by AI are suggestions, not guarantees. Review them before acting — Daylight is a tool to help you, not a replacement for your judgement.

6. Availability & changes

Daylight is provided as-is. We may update, change, or discontinue features at any time. We'll try to give notice for significant changes, but can't always promise it.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Daylight and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Privacy Policy

What we collect

We collect only what's necessary to provide the service:

  • Your email address (for authentication)
  • Meeting metadata — titles, dates, and attendees (synced from Granola at your request)
  • Tasks you create or that are extracted by AI

What we don't store

  • Your Granola API key — never saved in any database (see below)
  • Meeting summaries — accessed in real time when you view a meeting, never persisted
  • Meeting transcripts — never accessed or stored

How your API key is protected

Your Granola API key grants access to your meeting notes, so we treat it with extra care:

  • When you provide your key, it is encrypted on our server using AES-256-GCM with a server-side secret
  • The encrypted value is returned to your browser and stored in local storage — we never save the key in any database
  • When you use Daylight, the encrypted key is sent to our server, decrypted momentarily to fetch your Granola data, and immediately discarded
  • The encrypted value stored in your browser is useless without our server-side secret
  • Your encrypted key is bound to your account — it cannot be used by anyone else, even on Daylight
  • Because keys live in each user's browser, a server breach cannot expose everyone's keys at once

How we use your data

Your data is used solely to provide Daylight's functionality — syncing meetings, extracting tasks, and displaying them to you. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Third-party services

Daylight relies on the following third-party services to operate:

  • Convex — database and backend infrastructure (stores meeting metadata and tasks)
  • Vercel — frontend hosting and serverless functions
  • Cloudflare — DNS, CDN, and DDoS protection
  • Granola — meeting note source (accessed via your API key)
  • Groq — AI inference for task extraction (meeting content is sent for processing but not stored by us)

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

Data retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete all your data at any time from the Settings page — this permanently removes your tasks, cached meeting metadata, and account. Your locally stored encrypted API key is also cleared.

Cookies & local storage

Daylight uses essential cookies for authentication and browser local storage to hold your encrypted API key. We don't use tracking cookies or analytics that identify you.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing us or using the delete account option in Settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll note the updated date at the top of this page.
